Markdown Mode for Confluence

Privacy policy

In short: the app runs on Atlassian's platform, inside Confluence, in your browser. It has no servers of ours, stores nothing outside Confluence and sends nothing to anyone else. We never receive your page content.

1. Who we are

Markdown Mode for Confluence ("the app") is provided by PPFTEC S.R.L., a company registered in Romania, with its registered office at Str. Patriarh Iustinian Marina nr. 17-19B, bl. DC12, mansardă, ap. 25, Râmnicu Vâlcea, jud. Vâlcea, 240469, Romania, Trade Register no. J2026052999008, fiscal code (CUI) 55537142 ("we", "us").

2. What the app does

The app adds "Edit in Markdown" and "New child page from Markdown" actions to Confluence Cloud pages and blog posts. It shows a page as Markdown, lets you edit it and publishes it back to Confluence as a new page version, or creates a new child page from Markdown.

3. How the app handles data

The app is built on Atlassian Forge and runs entirely on Atlassian's platform:

  • No servers of ours. The app has no backend. Its user interface is served by Atlassian and runs in your browser, inside Confluence.
  • Confluence content stays in Confluence. To show and publish a page, the app calls the Confluence REST API from your browser, as you, using Atlassian's Forge bridge. The content goes directly between your browser and your Confluence site. We never receive, see or store your page content.
  • No storage. The app does not use Forge storage or any database, and it does not copy page content anywhere.
  • No third parties. The app does not send data to any external service. It uses no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no cookies of its own.
  • Browser preferences. The app keeps two display preferences (the layout: Markdown, split or preview; and the line-break option) in your browser's local storage, under keys starting with mmc:. They contain no personal data and never leave your browser. You can delete them by clearing site data in your browser.
  • Clipboard. "Copy as Markdown" puts text on your device's clipboard only when you click it.

4. Personal data in Confluence content

Pages and blog posts can contain personal data, for example names or @mentions. This data is processed by Atlassian as part of Confluence and by your browser. Because the app has no backend and no storage, PPFTEC S.R.L. does not collect this data for its own purposes and has no access to it.

5. Data we may receive from Atlassian

As a Marketplace partner, we may receive account and licensing information from Atlassian, for example the site URL, licence status and billing or technical contact details, to manage licences and provide support. We use it only for licensing, billing and support.

6. Support requests

If you contact us for support, we receive what you send us, for example your name, e-mail address and message. We use it only to answer you, and we keep it for 24 months after the request is closed.

Please do not send page content that contains personal data unless it is needed to reproduce a problem.

7. Data location and retention

The app itself stores nothing, so there is nothing to retain or delete when you uninstall it. Confluence data stays where your Confluence site stores it, under Atlassian's data residency settings.

8. Security

The app only has the Confluence permissions read:page:confluence and write:page:confluence, and it can only do what the signed-in user is already allowed to do in Confluence. Please report security issues to support@ppftec.com (see also security.txt).

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection for any personal data we hold about you (in practice, support correspondence). Contact us at support@ppftec.com. You may also complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP, or to your local data protection authority.

10. This website

This website (ppftec.com) is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no scripts and uses no analytics or third-party services. It is hosted on Cloudflare; to deliver the pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical connection data such as IP addresses.

11. Changes to this policy

If the app's data handling changes, for example if a future version starts storing data, we will update this policy before releasing that version and change the "Last updated" date.
